cooling summer smoothie

There have been some heat waves coming through the Eastern Woodlands this summer, and this smoothie is cooling and supports smooth, bloat-free digestion. Ginger helps the stomach break down food. Pineapple contains digestive enzymes that help the body to process food, even in the heat. Cucumber and basil are cooling and lime helps the liver process excess hormones. This cooling summer smoothie has been a go-to for me this summer. Try it and see what you think.

COOLING SUMMER SMOOTHIE

You will need:

  • 1 cup plant milk (I make my own oat milk)

  • 1 cup fresh spinach

  • 1 cup cucumber, chopped

  • 1/2 cup frozen pineapple

  • 1 small piece of fresh ginger, chopped

  • 21-2 handfuls fresh basil leaves

  • 2 tablespoons ground flaxseed meal

  • Juice of 1 lime

  • 1 scoop collagen protein powder

Blend all ingredients in a blender until smooth. This smoothie is a wonderful snack or complement to a scrambled egg breakfast. It keeps in the fridge for 3 days.
