Rituals to Cultivate Intuition
Intuition, from the Latin for ‘the knowledge within’, is a powerful way to set periodic intentions from a place of personal truth.
When we act from intuition, we remain attuned to our connection with nature and to our embodied needs.
We are nature. We are animals. When we tend to ourselves, we tend to the earth.
What is happening around us right now is reflected within us at various moments in our days and at different times in our lives.
Life is a cycle. Time is not linear. We constantly return to points in the cycle with new learning from the previous go around.
When we pay attention to the earth’s cycles, the earth responds by showing us how to remain attuned to our intuition.
Instinct is a natural tendency and intuition is its cultivation.
Try these embodied practices to connect with your inner knowing.
NERVOUS SYSTEM RESET
The nervous system can sometimes struggle with switching between sympathetic and parasympathetic.
Sympathetic mode is activated.
Parasympathetic mode is relaxed.
Try this practice to reset.
Pick up a small object near you and pass it back and forth between your hands.
Listen to what arises and write it down if you feel so inspired.
BALANCED BREATHING
Intellect, from the Latin for binding ourselves to thoughts, can feel restrictive.
Intuition, instead, comes from within.
As we align our bodies with the earth's body, we cultivate the knowledge within more and more.
Try practicing balanced breathing to cultivate your connection with your inner voice.
Take a deep breath. Breathe in for 4 counts, hold for 2 counts, breathe out for 4 counts, hold for 2 counts.
Repeat this cycle three times.
ATTUNE TO THE MOMENT
When we support the flow of our vagus nerve, there is a calming that can take place.
Try this somatic practice of looking all around your space.
Look over your left shoulder.
Look over your right shoulder.
Look up.
Look down.
Close your eyes.
Breathe.
Open your eyes and return to the space.
